The Hill is known for its Italian food, and most of it is eaten in restaurants that are known for heavy dark wood, large chandeliers and other traditional trappings. Lorenzo's Trattoria offers contemporary Italian cooking in a light and airy atmosphere on the Hill. For example, the house salad includes toasted pistachios and crisp bits of prosciutto. The chicken Marsala features oven-dried tomatoes and Parmesan mashed potatoes, and the ravioli is filled with goat cheese. Located at Edwards and Daggett, Lorenzo's is housed in a quaint 100-year-old building. But that's where the similarities with other Hill eateries ends. The dining room has been painted gold and is brightly lit with terracotta sconces. It's as if the owners want you to feel as if you've visiting Tuscany today -- not the Tuscany of 100 years ago. -- HW
