LuLu's offers some of the best authentic Chinese cuisine in all of St. Louis. While the decor of the restaurant is done in the traditional Chinatown style of unflattering fluorescent lighting and large, decorative fish tanks, the food remains the centerpiece of the restaurant. The cuisine spans several different styles of Chinese cooking, allowing one to order a taste of Canton as well as Shanghai. If you decide to order one of the specialty fish dishes, watch as the waiter goes to retrieve your dinner from one of the fish tanks on the back wall. It's highly recommended to come here on the weekends for the dim sum, which is the Chinese version of Spanish tapas, or small plates. The shrimp dumplings are excellent, and the cart pushers (dim sum is pushed around in heated carts) are more than kind in explaining everything they have in those misty metal carts. They also offer fresh fruit shakes with the famous large black tapioca, otherwise known as bubble tea. The wine and beer list is limited, but the tea is free and goes the best with such authentic Chinese cuisine.
