Perfect for on-the-go moms, busy shoppers or khaki-clad business folk who can't stomach another greasy fast-food burger, Noodles & Company deftly combines fresh 'n' healthy with quick 'n' cheap. Part of an ever-expanding category of fast-casual restaurants, this Colorado-based joint serves noodle-based dishes (no surprise) hailing from three different regions, including Asian (pad thai and Bangkok curry), Mediterranean (whole-grain Tuscan fettuccine and penne rosa), and American (mushroom stroganoff and Wisconsin mac and cheese). Salads and soups are also available. While not considered a vegetarian restaurant, each dish begins sans meat, allowing the customer to pick a protein for a nominal fee (chicken breast, beef, shrimp or organic tofu) to add if desired. After ordering from the counter, food is cooked from scratch, allowing complete customization for picky eaters, people with allergies or health-conscious patrons. Then, it's delivered to your table in about five minutes. Where possible, ingredients are organic (tofu, dairy) and always fresh -- nothing comes frozen or in a can here.
