Pin-Up Bowl is a retro-chic homage to the game the '50s made famous. It boasts eight lanes of bowling, an extensive martini list and plenty of old-fashioned pin-up posters. Unlike a traditional bowling alley, it also doubles as a trendy upscale lounge. Shades of blue and red provide a fun feel, and four big screens above the lanes (along with two at the bar) pump out music videos and play cartoons. The combination of first-rate libations and bowling make Pin-Up great for a date, and a cherry pop tart for dessert is sure to seal the deal. In the spirit of Blueberry Hill -- also owned by Joe Edwards -- Simpsons' bowling artifacts, the vintage tin Rocket Bowling game and other bowling memorabilia are exhibited behind a glass case. Classic pin-up girls such as the Bettys (Page and Boop) are also displayed. The sparkly bar serves up signature cocktails such as the Stiletto Martini and the Dutch Harvest, while Bud Light and Schlafly are always on tap. The menu includes hot bowls of Campbell's soup to warm you up on even the coldest nights, along with plenty of appetizers, pizzas and sandwiches.

Bowling Alley
By latenightreviews on 12/12/2005
The place itself was great. What wasn't so hot was the service. From the second we stepped in line and waited 30 minutes to walk in the front door to getting our drinks it was horrible. When we were waiting in line the doorman was sitting inside drinking. Is it me or should people on the clock watching the door stay sober? We were harassed by a strange guy while waiting to get in and actually had to call the police over, and only then did the door man put his drink down. When we finally got in he was a complete jerk, asking us how the cold weather was treating us while we waited. It took forever to get a drink, and the wait staff all walked around, but were more interested in how the looked versus doing their job. If you are looking for a nicer version of a bowling alley, this place is for you. If you are looking for a great place to get a drink, and have fun....look elsewhere, because all in all this is still just a place to bowl.

Trendy Metro spot

Pin Up bowl is what it is, a martini bar slumming as a bowling alley. I went there some time ago on a thursday night and while the bar area was pretty full, the bowling lanes were half vacant. I give it credit for it's 50's styling, but in all honesty, what's the point if you're gonna have techno music and jumbo projection screens? Drinks are expensive, but it's a Joe Edwards place. Nothing he does is cheap. I didn't have the food, but when you're advertising cambells soup on the menu, you're not exactly touting the food as your draw. Personally, I'd prefer these places be in the CWE, Clayton or in downtown, places more upscale than the loop. I liked the loop when it was full of teenages angry at their parents who'd skateboard and get tattoos, not yuppies in shiny black outfits, talking on cellphones, gelling their hair while their "friend" gets them a pink martini. Please Joe, stick to nightclubs or restaurants, not both.

overpriced!
By bigred804 on 12/02/2004
Granted my family and I had a great experience at Pin-Up Bowl, it was way too overpriced. For two hours of bowling, in only one lane, our total (not including our bar tab), was about $108 dollars! The martinis were way overpiced, and the pitchers of beer were ten bucks a pop. This is something that you definitly should have money for!
