Everything about Sekisui is tasteful, from the soothing and elegant waterfall sculpture at the front door to the shades of pumpkin and taupe that coat the walls. But in a restaurant, the taste that matters most is invariably that which meets not the eyes, but the tongue. And on this score, Sekisui must be doing something right with its sushi, because in a very short time this joint has become one of the most popular food destinations on South Grand. Many kinds of raw fish are available here, as are a commendably large number of offerings for those who don't cotton to the uncooked fauna of the sea. Similarly, the place prides itself on its sake, but in the spirit of hospitality lists a good selection of wines for the more determinedly occidental palate. Sekisui feels very fresh and original, but it's actually an outpost of a Memphis sushi chain, not that any of the contented patrons at Grand and Arsenal seem to mind or care. -- HW
