Open for business since January 2005, Spooty's is just a kid by Soulard bar standards. But the tavern has the soul of an old juke joint, so it's only fitting that the clientele is a little older than most of the surrounding clubs, and the sounds coming through the speakers are geared toward the more mature set. Local musicians provide entertainment on most nights, and the mural of legendary blues players on the wall behind the tiny stage tells you what genre is on the bill before the music even starts. The small bar serves mostly A-B brews, and though there's no food for sale, you're welcome to order something from a neighborhood establishment and dine in -- as long as you're drinking. It's a hole-in-the-wall, corner bar and dive all in one, and you get the feeling that regulars from Soulard will keep Spooty's going strong even if nobody else shows up.
