Whiskey Joe's is the spot for partiers tired of youthful displays of drunken sloppiness. In other words, it's for grown-ups. The longtime favorite for Southern/Cajun dining and adult partying has a rustic, shanty look and is mostly frequented by 30- and 40-somethings, so the vibe is upbeat but never out of hand. The bar/restaurant has an upper and a lower deck for dining and a main bar -- plus an outdoor deck over Tampa Bay, which has gotten accolades from local publications, including a 1997 nod for best place to watch the sunset on the bay. Though the crowd is mature, it is not uptight. Picture Jimmy Buffet and his beach bum entourage -- they'd fit in seamlessly, throwing peanut shells on the floor and booty-shaking to classics of disco's golden era. Bottled and draft beers include Calusa Wheat, made by the local Ybor City Brewing Company, and a special beer brewed exclusively for Whiskey Joe's, Flying Gator.
