This saloon has lots of memorabilia from the Auld Sod, dark stained wood work and one of the most beautiful shiny wooden bars in town. But on weekend nights, you'd be hard-pressed to find anything more authentic than the Bass on tap. That said, The James Joyce Irish Pub makes for one of the more congenial watering holes in Ybor City, especially for boomers and older patrons, and its intimate setting makes it easy to meet people (especially once the liquid courage kids in).. High ceilings, a long bar and an upstairs pool hall provide this place with all the basic appointments. To top it off, theres live music on tap nearly every night, ranging from folk to Irish to down-and-dirty rock 'n' roll. The Irish certainly know how to tie one on.

Drove over an hour to get to this place on Sunday night, and it was well worth it! We had a great time. Bartender was a riot I think his name was Matt from Bay city. Never a dull moment there. Thanks guy

Great atmosphere

I've been going to the James Joyce for about 6 years now. It's run by a true Irishman, Seamus, and he's a character. Great guy. The bartender Kelly is also great. The atmosphere is very chill and they know how to pour a Guinness. Almost every night there is entertainment after 10pm. Stephanie Anderson is a great singer/songwriter/guitarist with a beautiful folksy voice. She plays every Thursday and Saturday night. I highly recommend giving the Joyce a try.

Great drunken, grouchy bartenders. Fun, sarcasm, car bombs, and wit. I love it!
