Rate and Write a Review Loyal patrons have been queuing up for the spicy stuff since 1968, when Tim Walters opened this tiny barbecue shack across from Tropicana Field in St. Pete. Take out business is big - the restaurant is comprised of just two tiny rooms and the urban sprawl surrounds don't invite lingering in this part of town. Aesthetics aside, the focus here is right where it should be - on the incredibly tender and perfectly smoked meats dished up with all your favorite comfort food side dishes. Tender cuts of chicken, pork and beef are roasted for hours over a wood-fired flame, lending a distinct, though not overpowering, smokiness. The secret sauce here is especially hot so consider yourself warned before you start dousing the bottle around. Side dishes include the usual standards: fries, onion rings, baked beans, potato salad and so on. For something different, and totally unhealthy, the fried corn on the cob is a unique taste sensation. Don't miss a slice of sweet potato pie for dessert.--Terry Ward
