As an upscale restaurant with outside seating and an eclectic menu, the Island Grill has a few surprises. The sushi bar, tiki bar and extensive wine menu make this a great place to take out-of-town guests you are trying to impress. There is also a full sake menu, from which all sake is served warm. Seafood is a specialty here, with fresh Florida catches often on offer. A favorite dish is the bamboo-steamed salmon filet. The salmon is wrapped in bamboo with vegetables and comes out perfect. Also very popular is the grilled king crab legs. Fans of crab who don't like to dabble in the cracking of king crab legs are pleasantly surprised to find the work already done for them. The chef cracks open the crab leg shells horizontally so you just have to fork out the meat inside. Make sure you get a taste of the five-spice mashed potatoes. Sunday brunch is one of the bay area's best, with live entertainment on the tiki deck. Buffet options change weekly to reflect the season's fresh selections, but you'll always find Eggs Benedict, sushi, an omelet station, Cajun crawfish and the chef's homemade dessert table. Outside seating is great in the winter months. Tiki torches burn and umbrellas cover each table nicely.
