Mitchell's Fish Market   

A few doors down from P.F. Chang's and Maggiano's at bustling West Shore Plaza, this chain eatery with restaurants on the east coast and in the Midwest has become a Tampa seafood standard. The ambiance has upscale west coast flair, with an open kitchen, a raw bar overflowing with ice and a lack of stuffiness despite the elevated surrounds. The menu is so vast, with 80 seafood choices that change with the season available between lunch and dinner, that two versions of the menu are printed up daily. People rave about the Chesapeake Bay crab cakes, packed with far more moist lump meat than filler. And if you're an oyster fan, you'll have your pick of the freshest bivalves flown in from around the country, be it Delaware, Maine or Washington State. The fresh catches of the day could include everything from Lake Eerie yellow perch, Atlantic swordfish and Alaskan cod to trout from an Idaho river and fresh Florida mahi mahi. Fish foes can choose among the steak options on the menu or opt for a salad (read: bo-ring). Seafood doesn't get any more stellar.
