The address may say Tampa, but the attitude is all Key West. Oystercatcher's attests to this fact with its Caribbean-inspired wraparound balcony, shuttered windows and pastel paint job. The easy-breezy atmosphere carries through to the restaurant's interior with hardwood floors, white-washed furniture, colorful linens, blooming tropical plants and large picture windows with spectacular views of Old Tampa Bay. Weather permitting, diners can ''super-size'' the splendor by dining on the beachfront deck. First and foremost a seafood restaurant, Oystercatcher's uses fresh catches in novel house specialties such as herb-encrusted salmon mignon and pancetta-wrapped lobster tail. There's pan-roasted duck breast and broiled spiny lobster tails, too. But the restaurant's real calling card -- and any Tampa native will say as much -- is the legendary Sunday brunch. There are carving stations with succulents meats, fresh pastries and breads, peel 'n' eat shrimp, oysters, made-to-order omelets... in other words, a bit everything, and all superbly prepared, too. Other highlights include an extensive wine list of reds, whites, champagnes and dessert wines.

WINE TASTINGS ARE AT OYSTERCATCHERS
By winelover1326 on 08/14/2008
Oystercatchers Restaurant in Tampa has added Wine Tastings to their already impressive restaurant! I attended the most recent one "Tour of Tuscany" and it was absolutely amazing! It is held in their private dining room overlooking Tampa Bay - what a treat! It is hosted by Thomas DeLuca who is one of the managers and is the wine specialist for the restaurant. He pairs the wines (which have a different theme every week) with the most delicious cheeses I have ever tasted! He answered all of my questions and the questions of all the other guests with knowledge and experience! What a great time! We stayed for dinner after the tasting and found out that in doing so, we received 10% off of our dinner bill... I WILL be returning for the next tastings!!!!!!!!!!!!! The classes are Friday nights in August starting at 6:00PM... You have to check this out!!!

Oystercatcher's brunch
By Chibamother on 06/11/2008
Very expensive & little food. Used to be an excellent place, but now it's all about dieting, yuppie, drinkers. Alcohol is where the money's at. The brunch is a joke compared to what it once was. Someone has to pay for those renovations. I liked the old Key West atmosphere better than the "train station" look. Even the hired help are apologetic.

Outstanding!
By MJCORL on 06/03/2008
If you're not a cheap skate and you know what great seafood taste like, then this is the place for you. I've eaten at every restaurant around here and this food is the best around without a doubt. The crab cakes are the best i ever had and the calimari is awesome! They have organic chicken, Hereford beef and over ten kinds of fish. Very high quality and freshness is their secret. You have to expect to pay extra for the best seafood that's available, organic produce and the breath taking view of the bay at Oystercatchers. Unless you're just a cheap skate....They also have a cool pool party every sunday with live DJ's and other stuff. It's hot!
