Salt Rock Grill is a snazzy yet relaxing eatery for seafood and more. Serving up a colorful, international variety of playful, modern seafood dishes, steak and pasta amid a sleek Floribbean decor, it's no wonder the creatively resourceful restaurant was named for the fishermen a century ago who camped along Indian Shores' huge salt rock boulders, building big crackling fires into open pits. The owners say the old grilling beach tradition is legendary, and they keep up the tradition of cooking up their surf and turf on a -- yep, you guessed it -- salt rock grill. From filet mignon to tender, rare Ahi tuna to salmon Oscar and other fancy but thoroughly palatable meals, the menu at Salt Rock has something for everyone, setting a stellar reputation among locals. Entrees come with Aztec corn over garlic mashed potatoes; pasta is served with home baked bread. Though reports of inconsistent service have popped up in the past, the establishment has turned this around in the past year with a professionally minded waitstaff. Note: long waits are the norm at Salt Rock; reserve early -- especially if you have a party larger than five

Excellent Atmosphere, Service, and Food
By Secretariat1194 on 06/27/2008
The Saltrock Grill has an excellent view with high ceilings and a waterfront view. They cook everything over a wood grill. They serve fresh sourdough bread with a oil dip that is excellent. They have great caesar salads. I usually get an early bird special that is a sirloin steak that comes with a potato and a salad. The steak is very savory in flavor. Prices are very reasonible. Excellent service. When we go to Clearwater Beach for vacation, we always make 2 trips to the Saltrock Grill!

Awful!
By Games94727 on 06/11/2008
Horrible! There was only 4 of us but we could not have a conversation, because it was so incredibly loud. We had to wait forever even with reservations...we had to wait for EVERYTHING. Everything was way overpriced. I know I should not have ordered the steak tartare, but it is so rarely offered any where so I had too - yuck, yuck, yuck! It was my birthday, and they ruined my whole night. Thanks a lot!

Don't bother....too many better places to go to on Gulf Blvd.!!!!!!
By Dome54 on 06/11/2008
From the unfriendly and rude hostess, to the over 30 minute wait with reservations, the horrible accoustics, the ridiculous prices and portions and the average service this place is no longer what it used to be. Always was on our "must go" list each spring break, but now is only a mere shadow of it's original attraction. Spend your money elsewhere.
