Anchoring the Kennedy Blvd. renaissance movement, this appealing Mexican restaurant has scratched itself a successful niche in the Chihuahua-eat-Chihuahua world of Tampa Latin cuisine. Serving up the expected combination plates and Algusto goes one step further by creating dishes featuring fresh tortillas and salsas; it bears mentioning that the enchilada, that gloriously conceived but typically abysmally executed stuffed corn tortilla, reaches untold heights at Algusto -- first time diners would be wise to start here. Order at the counter then head to the salsa bar and stock up on the hot stuff and a basket of fresh chips. Tucked next to a Victoria's Secret and appointed with a bright Latin inspired decor, this hacienda for the hungry is rapidly turning into an Ybor City hot spot. favorite restaurant in town, excellent service, authentic mexican

I'm very familiar with mexican food. I've been to probably hundreds of restaurants across the US and have even tasted authentic mexican on several of my trips to guadalajara in central mexico. Algusto still ranks high on my list. They use only the freshest ingredients that are often hand picked by the owner himself and the recipes are authentic central mexican. The service and food are consistent, delicious and great service every single time. The owner Alberto is extremely friendly and a very hard worker. He cares deeply about the business and about providing great service and great food and it shows. I can't recommend this place enough, one of the best restaurants in south tampa.

Algusto is an awesome place to enjoy great authentic Mexican food, I am not mexican but I love the food from there. I work very close and every chance I get I go to eat there with my friend. The owner, Alberto Moriilo, is very nice and down to earth. The restaurant is very pretty. I would recommend this restuarant to anybody even if you are not into mexican food, the food is not that spicy like other places. I am sure you will love it as much as I do and will leave satisfied. Go see for yourself!!!

Great taste and healthy!

I love Al Gusto! I eat there a lot with my friend. I sometimes get the mushroom crepes which are delicious or the cactus and chile salad. Other Mexican places put too much cheese and are greasy. This place is fresh and good and you walk out feeling full but not disgusted with yourself. Instead, you feel very healthy when you leave. We need more restaurants like this, because too many Americans are too fat. Al Gusto will satisfy your hunger and your tastebuds but will not give you a heart attack.
