NOTE :"AMERICANIZED" & "GREAT
By screamnqt on 04/09/2007
NOTE TO "AMERICANIZED" try Micheal's Cafe on the East Side for good Chicken Paprikas NOTE TO "GREAT FOOD: You need to dump this chick if the food here made her this happy. If Tony's hot dogs turned her on this much- would hate to see what you had to offer her.

VERY DISAPPOINTED
By princessisis721 on 04/09/2007
My husband and I (born & raised in Toledo) stopped at the Sylvania location one night. Let me warn you- most of the beer signs hanging in the restaurant are "just for show" --they don't really "have those beers to serve- it's just a sign they have" (?) The waitress was nice but dingy. The food was luke warm. Sorry Tony, but ever since your sister died the place has gone down - waaaay down. She was better at running it. We won't be back- we prefer to remember the "good ol days" and eat somewhere else.

Americanized...But
By bgtoddl on 04/07/2007
Tony Packo's has always been a cultural issue for me. My family came to this country from Papa Hungary so when we are talking authentic, I know the real thing. Tony Packo's is NOT the real thing. Much in same the way Taco Bell is not real Mexican food. However, Packo's serves its purpose for those of us who are too lazy to labor and actually cook the "real thing". In other words, it's kind of close, not quite, but don't bitch unless you're willing to work to make it yourself. There is a true labor of love to this kind of food. I can still see my Grandmother (Kosa / Farkas) working for hours in the kitchen to prepare a meal. Bless her heart if she were still alive she'd be 110 years old. She used real lard and everything grown in her garden and it was the best! Grandma is gone and I rarely find the time to labor in the kitchen as she did. So to satisfy my craving I frequent Packo's for the Chicken Paprikash. It's not Grandma's, and it's become Americanized, but it'll do because my lazy butt can't seem to find the time to do it right.
