Timing is Everything
I've been eating at the original Dreamland for 35 years. It has gained too much popularity and is mass producing what once were "The Icon of Ribs". If you go on a game weekend, most likely, you will be served ribs that are tough and fast cooked. On a slow day, you will get the good ol' ribs that we all grew up with. On the other side of town, is Archibalds. Small and always tasty.
One bite and wanted to leave
I'm new to the area, but everyone in town raved about Dreamland. We tried one location and were disappointed. We then tried another location (off McFarland) and were even more disappointed! We had one bite and wanted to leave, but felt rude. I thought this was the south and BBQ was your thing. Eek! Try The Globe or a chain if you want excellent ribs. The only good thing at Dreamland is their sauce (which we did purchase a bottle and use at home and love).
Dreamland is really a BBQ nightmare.
Highly overrated!
I can think of a few other Bar-B-Que restaraunts in Tuscaloosa that is much better than Dreamland. Archibalds is wonderful; the meat is more tender and their sauce is to die for. Friendlier atmosphere too.
Dreamland BBQ is fair
What in the world! Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa, AL, both locations, is okay, but not good by far! There are many other BBQ places serving great plates. I think people are hung up on being cool and eating at places that are heard about on radio and television.
Hey, try Woodrow's, Hick's, Archibald's, and the new Full Moon BBQ and then you can talk about great BBQ.
