If you look up ''tavern'' in your dictionary you'll see a picture of Sandy's. Okay, that's a worn-out cliche, but Sandy's is made of the stuff that will never get old. Juke box. Beer signs. One pool table in the middle of the floor. Pinball. Burgers and fries in red plastic baskets lined with waxed paper! You'll feel like you've hung out here before if you've ever frequented a relaxed, sociable, neighborhood beer joint. There isn't an age group that can't feel comfortable at Sandy's -- whether years have turned your hair blue, or dye has, you'll fit in. The food is straight from the '50s and '60s, especially the half dozen or so juicy burger choices (cheese, olive, mushroom, etc., toppings) and the crinkle-cut fries. The burgers and other sandwiches are not huge, and most everything is a la carte. Prices are very reasonable, and one order of fries is enough for two people. An ample, deep-fried shrimp basket might get you thinking, and onion rings are on the menu, of course. Sandy's is small but never seems crowded, and kids are not an uncommon sight. Remember to bring cash, because, like the old days, there is no plastic card swiper here. -- John Sharpe

Perhaps the best part of Sandy's is just being there. Walking in the door is like stepping back in time. While most places today have felt that the way to attract customers was with fancy interiors, Sandy's has retained its roots that date back to the days probition was in full swing. You can almost imagine a still in the basement producing whiskey for the thirsty neighborhood patrons upstairs that dropped by for a drink decades ago. The food is awesome, the staff both friendly and helpful and the ambience makes this the best place in town to drop in and relax and forget about the hustle and bustle we all live with today. Order the olive burger and you will never settle for another burger anywhere else and best of all it will be served to you by a staff that makes each visit a great and enjoyable experience and lets you know they are as glad you are there as you are!!!!!
