Rate and Write a Review Beneath the Dinkytown legend that is Annie's Parlour, sits an eatery and nightclub currently building its own legacy. A spin-off by the owners of Loring Pasta Bar and Annie's, the Kitty Cat Klub not only serves food from both restaurants, but also morphs into an eclectic music and dancing venue that would surely bring a smile to any bygone neighborhood denizens. Student-friendly furnishings -- meaning cozy, mismatched sofas and other items from the old Loring Bar location -- provide a laid-back setting for loungers. The decor is, in a hyphenated word, awe-inspiring. The music scene here isn't knock-down-the-walls loud; the stage and dance floor are small, but adequate for live jazz and acoustic acts. The additional downstairs venue, called The Cavern, will be reminiscent to boomers who once hung around 'The Whole' in Coffman Union. The Cavern, however will boast spun tunes and other music that will, in all likelihood, not include those bleak troubadours. Cheap java and oatmeal in the morning, and low-cost wines and cocktails later are just right for students and anyone else who wants a place to mix or fly solo without the prices and attitudes of the trendier clubs. Expect a small cover charge on most nights and a parking challenge at nearby meters.
