Lyle's Bar & Restaurant   

Lawyers rub shoulders with artists and housepainters at Lyle's, and nobody makes any bones about it -- unless you count the chicken wings that go down two-for-one with the rest of the appetizers every night. But then, Lyle's bargain prices on wings are something everybody can agree on. It seems as if all it takes to make a neighborhood bar great is three happy hours a day, deep booths in a low rent building and good food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are made from scratch in-house, including blue-plate comfort foods like open-faced turkey sandwiches, beer-battered cod and three-bean chili. Choose from a selection of mid-priced cigars and 20 beers on tap. Pool, foosball, darts, pinball, an Internet juke and sports on the TV provide diversions. But the best sport here is people-watching, because Lyle's gets all kinds. -- Todd Boss
