Market Bar-B-Que   

Here's a barbecue joint that is popular enough to fold space and set up all over again -- twice. Named for the old Farmer's Market that it once neighbored north of downtown in the 1940s, this restaurant first moved to a corner now occupied by the Target Center. Market Bar-B-Que's current Minneapolis location, however, may be the best, right at the entry to Eat Street. The top-notch ribs, chops and steaks have survived history, and barbecue lovers have continually kept coming back, no matter where 'back' is. Neither the restaurants (there's another one in Wayzata) nor the menu are busy with glitz, but rather are down-home simple. Servings come in all sizes, or you can opt for chicken, shrimp or walleye if the ribs don't beckon. Sandwiches and combination platters are also available. Sides include the necessary slaw and fries, and they're good. Both locations offer full bar service for those who consider beer or cocktails part of the experience. Expect a tab as sweet as the rib meat.
