Don't expect any particular style of personality in attendance at this Northeast Minneapolis bar and grill. Suzi's attracts all kinds of folks, except maybe pretty blonde suburban people with Audis, and you may spot a bearded chap with ''Born to Ride'' tattooed on his upper arm or a couple of slick, young office types recharging themselves after work. Both the food and the casual attitude are big draws here, not to mention the getting-hipper-by-the-day neighborhood. The full menu is a hearty assortment of medium-priced bar favorites like burgers, sandwiches and the kitchen's distinctly styled pizzas. The weekday happy hours (3-6PM) bring in locals and regulars for deals on food and 2-for-1 tap beer and well drinks. There's also a bonus happy hour slotted from 9PM-12AM, Sunday-Thursday, offering different drink bargains each night. The bar, booths and tables are enveloped by tunes from a jukebox that plays an interesting mix but, unfortunately, doesn't have an adjoining dance floor. Patrons find ways to rock anyway, and most evenings you'll find Suzi's to be more motor than lounge.

Nice atmosphere, poor service
By mplsroadbiker on 05/21/2008
We went on Sunday afternoon when if was not especially busy, but there was only one section open so we and several other parties had to wait for a table. This was frustrating since it seemed that there was plenty of wait staff to open other sections. We got a table and ordered our drinks, and waited. And waited. And waited. Since we had only ordered tap beers, there was no excuse for a wait like this. We finally flagged down our waitress who went in and grabbed the beers, blaming the wait on a mix-up at the bar. As she set down our drinks we told her that we wanted to order a few appetizers, but she walked away without taking our food order. She returned after several minutes and we were finally able to place our order (by this time we should have known better and just asked for our check and left, but the menu looked so good). We finished our drinks and waited. The waitress never checked on us, never asked if we wanted more drinks and never stopped to explain why the food was taking so long. We waited and waited and waited. Then we finally saw our waitress again and flagged her over to our table. She said that she would check on the food, but still never asked if we wanted more drinks. We again waited. The waitress finally brought our food, and one of my friends was able to yell out that she wanted another drink before the waitress left. The food looked good, but we had no silverware, plates or napkins. Finally I went to the bar, ordered another round of drinks for the table and got the utensils that we needed to eat. My friend that had tried to order another drink from the waitress, never saw it, although it was added to our check! We never did see our waitress again either, a different waitress left the check at the table. The appetizers were very good and had the service even been tolerable we would have ordered more and at least another round of drinks, but I guess we were too much of an inconvenience for our waitress. After telling other people about our experience, I had heard that most people seem to experience really bad service at Psycho Suzi's. Wish I had know that before. I will never go back.

do not patronize this establishment. their treatment of loyal and hardworking employees is an embarassment to the entire hospitality industry of minneapolis. the owner is a horrid, miserable, money grubbing **** who does not deserve regular or repeat business.

hijack the juke box

We ate there last night and had a blast. The drinks are strong and the service is attentive and friendly. We loved our deep dish pizza, and suggest ordeing an appetizer because it can take a while to bake that kind of pizza. The juke box has a great selection of rock albums, including work by Elliott Smith and Queens of the Stone Age. We could have stayed there forever.
