The Nicollet Island Inn has stood witness to over a century of change on the shores of the Mississippi River. The Inn is consistently named the most romantic restaurant in the area and its river views have been voted some of the best in the city. An immediately recognizable Minneapolis landmark, the Inn offers world-class cuisine created by executive chef Adam Droski, whose innovative and constantly updated menu includes a variety of seafood, steaks and gourmet specialty dishes. Nic's bar, just off the main dining room, is a casual, olde-world tavern and the patio offers stunning views of the Minneapolis skyline. The Inn is a convenient, comfortable destination for breakfast or lunch meetings while the 5-course Champagne Sunday Brunch is the perfect weekend indulgence. Newly refurbished banquet rooms are perfect for weddings or corporate receptions of up to 150 guests. Traveling patrons (or those weary from an elegant meal) can luxuriate in one of the Inn's 24 guest rooms.

Not All That
By tcfoodie on 04/27/2006
Pretty much agree with What a Shame. Went for dinner a few nights ago and were truly dissapointed. Front desk person greeted us warmly but the dining manager could use a few lessons in hospitality. He was utterly arrogant and more concerned about his suit than anything else. This isn't New York buddy! Seated fairly promptly, we were greeted first by waiters assistant--quite friendly. Our waitperson seemed hurried and nervous. Not very compotent in menu and preparation knowledge either. My wife ordered the chicken roulade for entree and I the steak mid rare. When the meals finally came (thought the kitched went on break!) presentation was nice but temps were lukewarm on both. My mid rare steak was more like mid well---but due to time constraints for theater we dared not complain for we could not wait another 40 minutes for remake (let alone send our server into a panic attack!). I was excited to see steak tartar on themenu but must say it was extremely bland. The best thing from our experience was the wine---not to hard to screw that up! The new owner should definitely consider taking a decorating class---no focus--busy clashing patterns sort of like grandmas house meets liberace! Too bad, such gem potential. I'll wait for the next owner to come along and save this place before I return.

What a SHAME
By citysearchee on 04/03/2006
The Nicollet Island Inn has really gone downhill. I used to frequent the place but have not been back for about a year. I went there over the weekend with friends and I was deeply sadenned by how much the place has changed it used to be a happy and charming place. There seems to be a high turnover as no one I talked to seemed to know much about the place or was very helpful or professional. Our dinner was rushed and the food was average to say the least. I had the Pan Roasted Walleye which I have to say was a disgrace to seafood. My friends and I agreed that the place in itself still has its great view and history but the people that work there could use a class on service and maybe while they're in training they could bring the chef with them? Don't waste your time and $$. There are many wonderful dining establishments in Minneapolis. It's a shame this one no longer is.

Simply the Best

I hadn't been to the Inn in a few years, but I was interested after hearing that they got new ownership about a year ago. I was truly impressed. The menu and service are absolutely top-notch. The restaurant stands on its own (it's not a "hotel restaurant" at all). Great atmosphere. Great food. Wonderful service. I highly recommend it.

Great Dinner & Atmoshpere
By jordancm on 02/02/2006
This is the first time I had been to the Inn since it has undergone renovations. The atmoshphere was warm and inviting. Very relaxing! The food was unique and presented in an exquisite manner. I had the Short Rib appetizer, Bibb Lettuce Salad and Beef Tenderloin entree' . My husband had the Chicken Roulade. Everything tasted great! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an overall enjoyable dining experience.
