Betting that Arlingtonians need more pub grub and pool tables, Bailey's Pub & Grille has staked out a corner of the Ballston Mall and filled it with 17,500 square feet of "serious fun." This amounts to 11 giant pool tables, four video golf games, three dartboards, a 30-foot shuffleboard table and checkerboards built into the bar (with checkers tucked neatly alongside) at every stool. The interior itself, every inch of which seems upholstered, polished or riveted (with nary a window in sight), is sectioned into three rooms: a dining room with a giant U-shaped bar, a lounge area and a game room. The entire place is lined with TV monitors that fill the air with everything from sporting events to '80s music videos. While Bailey's claims that its barbecue platters are its specialty, the menu alone -- which includes pub standards like nachos, wings and burgers -- isn't reason enough to come here. More effort is put into the beer roster, which tallies up more than 100 beers, 36 of which are on draft. Frequent drinkers should look into Bailey's "mug club": For $25, you get a personalized 23-ounce mug that you can refill for the price of a pint, plus half-price wings. In addition to weekday happy hour, Tuesday evening is "pint night," when all draft beers are only $2.50. -- L. Adrienne Wichard

Decent food for a Sunday Night
By dreamincolor11 on 07/10/2008
We stumbled upon this joint last Sunday and we were one of the few parties there. The waitress was great and very friendly. We asked if they could change one of the TV's and they put what we wanted on the projection screen. Food was typical bar food (good coleslaw). After eating we played some pool and were told that it would be $15 an hour, we got the bill and they only charged us 1/2 price. Could be a gimmick to get us back, not sure. All in all a good place for a lazy Sunday evening when there is no foodball.

Great food Great Service

We went to Bailey's in Ballston recently on a Monday night. They have a 35 cent wings and $2 Bud drafts which we were not aware of. The wings were GREAT, and they have some new waitstaff which is far better than the previous. I would definately recommend them to anyone, and in fact have told my friends to go.

They have been very good to us
By winglover1 on 10/02/2007
After reading some of the previous reviews, I almost stayed away, but I am glad we didn’t. Bailey’s has been very good to our group. Based on a friends recommendation, I checked out the place for the Fagowee Ski Club's monthly meetings. I called on Angie, their group coordinator, she was very friendly and accommodating. We tried one semi-private room, and that didn’t work out so great, but we came back and tried the bigger room. That worked much better. The food is pretty good, and the beer selection is fantastic! The use of the PA system really helped a lot. When the music was too loud, they turned it down, when the lights were too dark, they turned them up. They have treated us very well, and that is more than we can say for some of the places we have tried over the years. They want our business and we are happy with their service. We usually meet the first Tuesday of each month, except when we have big trips planned. Check our website for scheduled trips and meeting updates! www.dcfagowees.com. The Fagowee Ski Club has tried several watering holes in the DC area, and hope that this will become our permanent lodge off the slopes. Think Snow! Bill Steinhour VP Fagowee Ski Club "We can do it. Bailey's Lying Staff
By smfulcher830 on 12/31/2006
I recently went to Bailey's to watch a UFC fight. I was told at the door that if I wanted to watch the fight, I would have to pay $5.00 in order to recieve a green bracelet that would allow me to be admitted into the room where the fight would be shown. Upon entering this room, I immediately noticed that MANY of the people in the VERY crowded room did not have bracelets. Some of these people were seated at tables, while my group stood peering over shoulders in an effort to see the screen. I asked the associate at the door why so many people in the room did not have bracelets. I was told that after the last football game, the room would be "swept" of people not wearing bracelets. This never happened. In addition, the fight was shown in a second room for all to see. Essentially, those who were honest at the door paid to see the fight and those who said that they were there to watch football did not. We spoke to the manager about this problem and his response was "I should have just canceled the fight." He refused to refund our money. This is not the first bad experience I've had at Bailey's. The previous reviews about poor customer service and long waits at the bar are all VERY true. Do not visit this bar - the service is awful, the bartenders can't make a decent drink and the staff will scam you out of money and lie right to your face.
