DC's not a big city, as far as population matters. But it's home to plenty of universities, and it's surrounded by sprawling suburbs from which club-hungry young people trickle in for nightlife. All said, the city's ready for FUR nightclub, a new multi-level entertainment mecca just off North Capital Street, NE. The ground floor is for dancing, with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems providing a pulsing party atmosphere under a cathedral-high canopy. Exhausted club-goers can chill in lounges -- replete with HI-def TV's, comfy couches and a laidback vibe -- or on the smoke-free balcony. Those who haven't embraced the smoke-free lifestyle can stick it to the health experts by sampling from an extensive cigar menu. Additionally, FUR offers a menu with, you know, food. Private rooms are available for reservation to those who want to get VIP treatment. But if you're going to act the part, look the part. In other words, spruce yourself up a tad. No shorts, flip-flops, sportswear, boots, hats, or spaghetti-stained tanks. Everybody wants to be one of the lucky 2500 clubbers that FUR can accommodate, so prepare to line up. And as the weather turns chilly, bundle up and use the on-site coat-check once you're inside.

Fur is Over!
By unikpearl on 09/17/2006
I am giving myself an excuse for going which is I went because I knew someone that works there. After 2 years this club still hasn’t learned any lessons. I have never seen anything like it. Who would try to have an upscale atmosphere to their club with the ghetto staff that works there? You would think that they own the club themselves or that they are guarding the White House. Like the others here have said VIP means nothing. Even if you are VIP they treat you like you just robbed a bank. You could make $80k plus during the week and roll up to this club in your hot car and they still pat you down and treat you like you robbed a bank. These are people standing out in the cold during the winter trying to make what we make in one hour. Trust me the owner of this club is not paying these people by far more than what you could make by working at the mall. It’s just the so-called glam that goes with the job and for some ODD reason they have a power streak that I have never seen the security have at any other club that I have been to. Again, I’ve never seen it before. Why would you have these people working at your club and acting this way? You notice all of this before you even get into the club. How you are greeted means everything for your impression on the club. They don’t care if you and your friends spend hundreds of dollars there the staff still treats you like “they are somehow better than you are and how grateful you should be that you are there!” Even when what you are spending is more than they are making by being there the whole weekend. What a joke? HOME nightclub, 1223 and Cloud are good. Also K street lounge and Lima. Lima is on the upscale side with a more professional crowd. Lima is closer to being what Fur is actually trying to be which is an upscale, professional place. Instead Fur has majority borderline legal age teenyboppers there.

Fur SUCKS
By obiomaloves2play on 08/31/2006
If the drinks were free I would understand them treating you like crap. But there is a $20 cover and drinks are not cheap but everyone that works there still treats you like you're not good enough to be there. When I went the crowd was average at best. There is nothing special about this place.

Bhangra Knights at Fur !
By sarah657480 on 08/10/2006
This is by far the worst nightclub I have ever been at, from the moment you walk through the front door. They make you wait like crazy as line goes around the block and once you get inside, the club is practically empty. Too bad this place is ISOLATED in the middle of the ghetto, which leaves no other option than staying. As night goes by, it gets filled with disguisting middle-aged beer bellied men. There are no words to describe the girls, just go under 'gallery' on their website and you'll get the picture. Don't even get me started about how shady management is. Besides the plastic cups and tables from Wal-mart, the staff is horrible. Especially the rude, ugly Euro-trash working in V.I.P. that kept serving drinks untill 4am. Although it's illegal (under Washington, DC law) to sell alcoholic beverages past 2am ! Drinks are watered down and hella expensive, too. Apparently this place doesn't have a dress code either. I have encountered the strangest things, including seeing people dressed in traditional Indian clothes walking around. The V.I.P room is filled with nothing but these people, who apparently share the same ethnic background as the owner's. The short muscular dude with the cigar is originally from Pakistan (who has changed his name to Michael Romeo), and desperately seeking to be seen as an Italian. This place is way too ghetto, if you're looking for a more upscale venue then you should consider trying 1223, K street or Five. At least, there you don't have to go through metal detectors! If you like bigger clubs, then you should try Love. They play good music and unlike fur, there is actually a place to dance. BTW, the only ppl on here that leave good reviews are folks that work at FUR. This place already has a bad reputation, and will close down pretty soon. Save your $$$ for somewhere else.
