DC's not a big city, as far as population matters. But it's home to plenty of universities, and it's surrounded by sprawling suburbs from which club-hungry young people trickle in for nightlife. All said, the city's ready for FUR nightclub, a new multi-level entertainment mecca just off North Capital Street, NE. The ground floor is for dancing, with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems providing a pulsing party atmosphere under a cathedral-high canopy. Exhausted club-goers can chill in lounges -- replete with HI-def TV's, comfy couches and a laidback vibe -- or on the smoke-free balcony. Those who haven't embraced the smoke-free lifestyle can stick it to the health experts by sampling from an extensive cigar menu. Additionally, FUR offers a menu with, you know, food. Private rooms are available for reservation to those who want to get VIP treatment. But if you're going to act the part, look the part. In other words, spruce yourself up a tad. No shorts, flip-flops, sportswear, boots, hats, or spaghetti-stained tanks. Everybody wants to be one of the lucky 2500 clubbers that FUR can accommodate, so prepare to line up. And as the weather turns chilly, bundle up and use the on-site coat-check once you're inside.

I attended the opening night Fur and it was ridiculous!! 2000 people with pre paid tickets were waiting outside in the cold trying to get in, not a good first impression!

Wasn't impressed
By cherriepink on 09/25/2004
Fur is a wonderful club (the venue in and of itself) but the crowd and music weren't good....wasn't progressive at all. It's 2004, play hip-hop/lounge, etc. Play all types of music. It was one big techno blob. Who in the hell listens to techno 24/7 like that. Please change up the music.... Also, it was opening night....no open bar, no free food, NOTHING. Valet was $30.

Its about time...

Its about time someone filled the void between Dream and the Gardens. A beautiful venue, great layout, and awesome decor make fur D.C.'s new "it club". And the bistro with the espresso bar is a nice touch. But you will definately break the bank at the bar. D.C. deserves a club this fabulous, and we demand you to have a "gay night" but please realize, us gay boys wont pay that much for cocktails, we just wont!

Do NOT go to FUR
By cremedeglace on 10/12/2004
I was very disappointed with my first experience at Fur. First of all, we had to wait so long in line that our passes for free admission expired - and the club wasn't even packed when we got in. This will definitely not fly when it's 20 degrees outside in the winter. Then when we got to the door and asked about the passes, the doormen were EXTREMELY rude, raising their voices, yelling at us, and trying to herd us out the door. We would have left but the club is in such an isolated location that it is inconvenient to other venues. I definitely have not received such horrible treatment at any other nightclub in DC, and I've been to many of them, many times. The actual club itself was all right, but nothing special at all.
