Surrounded by office buildings and international agencies teeming with bright young things, lounge and DJ haunt Eyebar, located on I also known as "Eye" -- Street, is in the perfect place to make a killing. With few clubs in the immediate vicinity, almost daily drink specials and a roster of fashionable regulars, Eyebar has all the elements to make it an after-work and weekend hit. Luckily, the club also has an impressive pedigree. Owners Andre Demoya and Lieven DeGeyndt have been major-league contributors to the DC nightlife scene at such clubs as Tracks and Spy Club for more than a decade. They have brought their expertise to Eyebar, and have filled it with modern furniture, upbeat house and trance music, low lighting and a full bar. Though the second-floor club lures in an attractive, well-heeled clientele, there is a small VIP section for those who prefer not to mingle. But, despite its elitist leanings, including a strict dress code, Eyebar does not charge a cover. So be prepared to queue up. Dress Code: No sneakers, flip flops, hats, tank tops, athletic wear, shorts, ripped, worn out or baggy jeans Happy Hour: Wed.-Fri. 5-7PM

Outstanding
By patrickdboyd on 02/10/2006
Surrounded by up and coming young professionals and great drinks. The music was outstanding on both floors. The DJ Downstairs was DJ Pat Premier spinning some great music and seem to be in touch with the crowd. The promoters did an outstanding job of making you feel welcome. (DChotspot.com) I would definitely go back.

This place is AWFUL
By jennadc79 on 02/07/2006
I will never try to go to this place again. I will admit that I am particular and a little snobby when it comes to lounges/bars but I rarely feel so strongly about a place. We decided to try Eyebar last Saturday night because we had friends who are regulars there/friends with the owner who we wanted to meet out. I was a little surprised when we approached the place because the people were pretty gross..not dressed well..and a litte on the trashy side. The bouncer was ridiculous. Now, I am originally from LA so I know about lines and "lists"--which I do not mind at all if the place is deserving. There was a "list" in use Sat. night that we were a little baffled about -- the strangest, most eclectic group of people were on it. We finally figured out that they had run some internet special where people could sign up to get their names on it. We waited for about 20 minutes while a girl kept yelling out "anyone here on the list?" None of us were. After 20, we decided to leave--after watching the people going in/leaving this place for that long we just had no desire! My advice to everyone: stick with places like 18th Street Lounge, Agua Ardiente, Chi-Cha and Tabaq. Eyebar is trying a litttttle too hard!
