fine by me
no pretentions, good services (even if slow sometimes, but so packed that you cant blame the staff) good food, prices are right..
just choose your time of the day to go there regarding the atmosphere you looking for..
RUDE service
My friend and I went for brunch today. After we paid for the meal the servers quickly took away everything--the silverware, napkins, glasses of water. My friend was holding the cardboard coaster in her hand and they took it right out of her hand. Then five minutes later they asked if we wanted anything else, if not that we had to leave. The food was all right, pretty normal DC brunch fair, nothing spectacular, but I was really put off by the server asking us to leave. That was even after we tipped 25%. Big mistake.

It looks like the owner must have written that last entry. I ate there once and it was so-so. Its over priced for what it is. The crepes are a lot better at La Madeleine. The decor is cute though.
The perfect everything cafe!
Bonaparte is absolutely perfect for just about any occasion... a first date, the date where you're going to pop the question, coffee with your friends, brunch with the folks, late night drinks and conversation with the owners at the cozy bar, a quiet tea with a good book. Between the atmosphere (oh so European - only cleaner and newer) and the fabulous crepes (the Budapest and Juliette are my favorites!) you can't go wrong here. The staff and owners recognize repeat guests with a welcoming smile and friendly conversation. Is it Citronelle? No, of course not... but places like that are an "event"... Bonaparte just sneaks into your heart and becomes your home away from home.
