Round the corner from Connecticut onto Florida Avenue and you cant miss the sign proclaiming the name of one of the latest additions to DCs gay and lesbian bar scene: The Fab Lounge. The place might not look like much from the outside, but the brightly colored interior and abundance of comfy overstuffed couches will make you feel like youre hanging out in a second-floor art deco apartment. Aside from the relaxed atmosphere, The Fab Lounge draws in its customers with some innovative cocktails. Theres the Cheesecake Martini and the Upper Level Martini (the lounge is located on the second floor), and the Big Apple Martini and the Fabulous Cosmo Martini offer twists on old favorites. These drinks are discounted during happy hour, which occurs every Wednesday through Friday from 5 to 8PM. The lounge offers specials on two drinks, though, regardless of day or time: The signature Red Martini ($4) and the Connecticut Gin and Tonic ($2). Fun martinis and house music the lounge has a resident DJ Wednesday through Saturday set the stage for mingling among the twenty and thirtysomethings, encouraging the occasional visitor to be a frequent fixture at The Fab Lounge.
