If youre Irish, you already know about this place. If youre not, dont try to get a reservation over St. Patricks Day! But, no worries the Dubliner Pub offers live Irish entertainment almost every night, year round. The Phoenix Park is a charming hotel on Capitol Hill, within a stones throw of both the Capitol and Union Station. Named for a park in Dublin, the place is popular with businessmen, lobbyists, and vacationers as well as displaced Irishmen (and women). All guest rooms are wonderful, but the suites are spectacular and worth splurging on if you can. Penthouse suites have balcony views of Union Station. The three elegant duplex suites will make you feel like a movie star with their spiral staircases. The hotels 150 rooms and 6 suites (3 penthouse, 3 duplex) routinely book well into the future this gem of a hotel has a loyal following of repeat visitors. Theres a no-smoking floor. Rooms have modems and all the amenities required by both vacationers and business travelers. Parking is available, and the hotel has both laundry and exercise facilities. Its tough to find charm, location, value and comfort in one Washington package. Maybe thats why the Phoenix Park is so popular it has it all. -- Tracey Meloni
