Summers might be called a quintessential sports bar -- after all, its owners take the notion of game-watching very seriously. But what sets Summers apart from its peers is that soccer games, rugby matches and boxing events are treated with just as much importance as football games. Summers scatters midsize TVs with hi-fi sound systems around their dining areas, each sporting a different live or prerecorded game. Primarily known as a soccer hangout, Summers shows even the most obscure international games -- in some cases it's been the only bar on the East Coast showing a particular series. Because of the special satellite packages the bar's management has invested in, it's possible to watch all regional NFL games on a given Sunday and even, perhaps, the Bulgaria-Iran soccer match. Summers restaurant opens at 7AM and serves food all day long; weekend brunch is especially popular. Happy hour specials include $1 off beer and a basket of chicken wings for around $3.

Arrogance and attitude
By grandviewharley on 06/14/2006
A restaurant owner that has had a charisma bypass. In my 25+ years in the restaurant business, have never met a ruder person. So-so food, adequate waitresses, rotten customer service. Go somewhere that appreciates your business.

Former regular
By kirkbystephen on 03/23/2006
Summers is of another age, when service and food quality did not matter. The attitude of the owner and his wife is, if you complain then don't bother to come back. Go there for your game, if you must, then leave and find a place that actually respects you as a customer. The number of former Summers customers who go elsewhere is legendary. The owner and his wife have done more to help their competitors than their competitors could have done for themselves.
