Retro meets metro at the stylishly modern bowling alley/billiard hall that's taking America by storm. Born in trendy LA, Lucky Strike Lanes proves that everything old is new again -- with glitz. A bowling alley with a dress code - who knew? Forget polyester -- babe bowlers here wear fishnet stockings and satin. And forget warm beer and pretzels -- rave reviews coast to coast say that the Hollywood-designed menu caters to one's inner child, with a little sophistication. The signature Tomato and Cheese S'Mores take campfire grub to new heights, as do crispy Mac and Cheese Balls, with pizza sauce. The yummy martini menu may not encourage bowling skill, but it's fun, along with top of the line cognac and champagne. Chocolate Insanity satisfies sweet tooths. Oh, and don't forget the bowling part -- 18 lanes (six by private reservation), plus billiards. The huge game and party room is lusciously lit with firelight.

AWFUL! THEIR MANAGER IS THE WORST!
By Effexor26 on 09/11/2008
I cannot even begin to tell you how afwul my experience with Lucky Strike Lanes DC was and specifically the manager Jim Overbeck. A few months ago I hosted a personal event in which I rented 2 lanes for 2 hours. We waited over an hour for our lanes despite the reservation, then one lane broke 4 seperate times (enabling us to only bowl 1 game in 2 hours). One TV was broken and our waitress disappeared twice for 30 min each time? When I brought the issues up with the manager Jim Overbeck he said there was nothing he could do then kicked us off the lanes after our 2 hours even though 1 of the lanes hadn't been working for 90% of the time. His attitude was cavalier, flippant and rude-when he could have easily resolved the problems! I wrote a letter to Jim and Lucky Strike regarding my experience - as I booked the lanes for a corp event and could certainly bring them more company business in the future. It took four months and 4 phone calls just to get him to return a call. His attitude was again cavaliar at best. Not apologizing for anything that happened - instead just trying to defend our experience by simply stating "things break at bowling alleys that's all there is to it" and "what do you want me to do"? Despite our prior awful experience, we returned last weekend to bowl again as an out of town guest was interested and were told there was a 2 hour wait. After waiting for 3 hours we spoke with Mr. Overbeck who claimed that his system didn't check us in until 1 hour after we actually arrived? Again with a rude at best attitude he simply stated "There is nothing I can do". We waited for another 30 minutes - when I spoke to him again and informed him that I was the one who had previously written based on my bad experience. His response "What do you want me to do. You think you're special just because you wrote a letter"? After 3 1/2 hours of waiting with this attitude - we left. If Lucky Strike values there business in DC - they will either hire someone who actually cares about customer service and make some internal improvements.
