Mocha Hut   

With two locations in the District, the Mocha Hut is a neighborhood hangout where you'll find freshly brewed coffee, a light menu and a real sense of community. Events are held regularly at the U Street location, including poetry readings and live music. Warm, earthy colors anchor the walls and local art is often on display. There's also Wi-Fi access for those who like to work or study in proximity to unlimited caffeine. In addition to a standard selection of coffee and espresso drinks, Mocha Hut offers assorted baked goods and a menu of sandwiches with names that pay homage to the city. The Ellington, a nod to both the Duke and the building where the U Street Mocha Hut resides, combines roast beef, swiss cheese, red onion and horseradish on sourdough. Mocha Hut also serves breakfast all day, including fluffy pecan waffles, croissant and bagel sandwiches, frittatas and a variety of egg plates.
