By now, more than a handful of urbanites know what goes on behind closed doors at this spooky-looking brownstone on 19th Street. The 4-story space has art nouveau lettering, etched glass, double doors and two turn-of-the-century lamp posts that loom like symmetrical sentinels out front. A hint of what Science Club is really about can be found in the small underground alcove to the left of the brick stairway. Above the door it simply says, "Bar", but the doorway leads to the basement lounge of downtown's newest nightspot. The invention of Steve Maguire, former GM at Chi-Cha Lounge, Science Club is an out-of-the-ordinary nightclub with a refreshing aversion to anything VIP. There's no cover charge, no dress code, no bottle service and no private rooms. The artfully skeletal interior, where candlelight glows against white-washed brick, has hardwood floors, mahogany chairs, a hodgepodge of light fixtures and a sought after table tucked in the bay window nook. Stop in during happy hour Monday through Friday for $3 Yuengling or drop by on a weekend when DJs spin broken beat records and a makeshift dancefloor appears.

After you finally decide to say your goodbyes (unless the lights come on and your prompted even sooner) out the door you'll then notice that you were lost in a totally different world. The patrons, atmosphere and staff combine to give this place it's own cool vibes of fun fun fun.
