Their online store delivers its sweet treats anywhere in the country, and if you live in Northern Virginia, the actual pastry shop is just a short drive away. Owners Reto and Laurie Weber pride themselves on not only offering traditional French, Austrian, Swiss, and German pastries, but various imported selections that are rarely carried by other grocers. The long list of gourmet goodies includes Swiss and German chocolates, Darbo marmalade, Spatzle (German noodles), and landjager (Bavarian sausage). Reto began his career as a pastry chef in his native Switzerland, and Laurie earned the title of Washington's Pastry Chef of the Year in 2001 while working at Galileo. The pair opened the bakery in 2001, and they frequent area food events like the FreshFarm Markets in DC. Although the Webers strive to carry on the traditions of the Swiss, not all pastries have a European flair: You can find a slice of America like cupcakes, carrot cake, and cheesecake at the Swiss Bakery too.
