Belga cafe is a great place to eat typical Belgian and Euro-Fusion cuisine. Combining an intriguing atmosphere with excellent, light and healthy interesting food. Belga Cafe is a little bit of Brussels on the Hill, with an open kitchen and a sidewalk cafe.

Squashed!

Although my food was ok, my experience was at Belga Cafe was not great. While eating dinner my friend pointed out a cockroach behind me. As I tried not to throw up the food I was chewing, he politely waived over a waiter (without alerting any other customers) who took care of the problem. I was shocked that none of the wait staff, including our waitress, apologized for the incident. If the are bugs in the dinning room you can imagine what is in the kitchen.

Hmmmmm

I am sad to say that I have eaten many meals in Brussels, and while they like to brag that their cooking is better than the French, it's just not so. In Belgium the fries are ho-hum (though they brag about them) and their mussels are always average and overpriced. You want mussels? Go to Carrabbas. But Belga puts out a very nice product, better than what I've found in Brussels and a heck of a lot closer. But the real reason to go is to sample the beers. All in all, a nice change from the ordinary in DC. Service was a bit lackadaisical, though.

More than Mussels!

Although crowded and noisy the service and dinning experience was wonderful. We were lucky enough to be there when they offered a beer tasting menu-4 courses price fix-and worth every penny-from the delicious soup to the rich dessert this place is a winner-the main course options offered mussels of course-but try the braised short rib instead-delish!!
