This three-level restaurant along one of Connecticut Avenue's most popular pedestrian thoroughfares draws people in: Its brilliant blue awning is an eye-catcher, and its rustic interior (with pale lemon walls in the main room, darker colors on the next level) provides a charming backdrop for a menu that features quality pasta dishes and entrees based on veal, chicken or shrimp. We recommend the lusty fettuccine with four cheeses (Gorgonzola is one, of course), a superior and highly rich take on the pasta-and-cheese theme. You also might be wowed by the rigatoni with scallops or the artichoke ravioli. Consider fried calamari to start and the tiramisu or cannoli for dessert -- a feast. For a really casual meal, ask to sit at the front bar, great for people-watching. -- Alexandra Greeley

Excellent

My entire experience was great. The food was good, my server was charismatic and attentive, and made wonderful wine suggestions. Like all DC restaurants, most are typically overpriced and crowded early, we came late and the experience was worth it.

Cafe Paradiso is an excellent restaurant. The dining experience is always delightful and dependable, the owners make you feel truly welcome and the staff is personable, informed and charming. It is the best bet for classic Italian cuisine in town.

TERRIBLE!

The food was mediocre at best and OVERPRICED. It was almost impossible to flag down a waiter. Eating here last night was the worst dining experience I have had in DC.
