I went to Gua-Rapo last Friday (2/27/09) night to hear some good tunes from DJ Sparky. I gave my debit/credit card to the cocktail waitress name Wendy so she can start a tab for me. I had 1 beer the whole night. After an 1 hr i close my check and went home and only sign for bill stating for $5. Next morning I checked my bank account for balance and notice that Gua-Rapo charged my account $64.02. So, I went there after work during rush hour and some assistant manager guy at the bar told me that I have to come back at 6pm. I waited outside for an hour. 6pm I went in to the restaurant and the owner/manager yelled at me stating that this charge is not his problem. WTF!! he said my bank made an error although debit transaction was already done and the money was taken out of my account. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCAM like me. I am in the process of filling a dispute towards my bank regarding the charges. Instead of apology, he yelled at me stating that I am lying. DON'T EVER GO TO GUA-RAPO IN ARLINGTON VA!!! STAY AWAY!!!

No one can deny the mouthwatering Latin food at Gua-Rapo! Although I see that other reviewers have had a problem with the service- I can honestly say that the staff has treated me efficiently every time that I have dined there. Also considering the live music performances, I do not predict that it will get any better in Arlington!

My friends and I have so much fun here! Live bands are always playing downstairs and upstairs there is a DJ, it's like 2 bars in one. The food and drinks are so tasty, this is my favorite spot in VA.

This is such a great place! A friend and I went and had an great meal. We started off with the beef empanada & corn bread...so yummy and just as good as the review implies. For the main entree we shared the ropa vieja, Cuban dish of shredded beef served w/lettuce cups for wrap-up eating...another don't miss. The white sangria is good if a little too sweet, the red was perfect. I wasn't that impressed with the banana cake dessert, didn't taste banana at all, they have a mini chocolate lava type cake that is amazing. This is a cool date place with its black furniture and red walls.
