TAKING LOUNGES TO A NEW LEVEL
By thedclounger on 08/17/2007
It is true-Mate is over hyped- but for a good reason. The clientele is consistently sophisticated and good looking-the exclusive environment demands for this. I’m not sure if it’s possible to find “Latin style sushi” elsewhere. Can’t refuse the striking drink menu.

Best sushi in DC

The sushi at Mate is so amazing, I have been to Sushi Samba in NY and Miami and Mate blows those out of the water! It's truly delicious!

Awful establishment
By ameee85 on 09/07/2006
I have been to gazuza and gua rapo and loved both. However, Mate is horrible. Mate needs to chill out, this place is not all that exclusive. The bouncers are very unfriendly and intimidating, they scrutinize your outfit (I was fortunate enough to make the cut). The music is ridicuolously loud, to the point where you have to scream at your friends, every table in there is reserved yet empty, the crowd is 30 and up, etc. etc. It's boring and I hate it. Will never go back. They also need some type of visible sign besides that writing on the door.
