Great for a First Date
By jurewicz38 on 12/26/2007
Certainly my date and I will be back soon enough as there's enough of a variety on the menu to hit the "spot." If you're on a date, definitely open with Oysters on the half-shell. They're delicious, unique, and can spark a certain conversation starter as well. When ordering, stick to the entrees, especially the Rockfish or Crab cakes. You will not be disappointed.

Soggy Bottom
By dosequisx7x on 11/11/2007
OEG has great atmosphere and service and some of the food is wonderful but BEWARE THE BREAKFAST. The french toast is so soggy it slips off the fork and was generally unappetizing. Consider that it's $11.95 a plate, too, before ordering! The Breakfast Club, deep fried french toast stuffed with bacon and ham, sounds good but mine was over fried, nearly burned. Please consider taking out of town guests somewhere else if they want breakfast. OEG looks like a great place for an entree and drinks instead.

We just took our out of town guests to the Old Ebbitt for a wonderful lunch. The meal was delicious and beautifully served. Just a fabulous and relaxing time for all four of us!

A BIT TOURISTY, STILL A GEM
By ssears59 on 03/18/2007
YES, A NATURAL MAGNET FOR WHITE HOUSE GAWKERS, BUT, OEG IS STILL PURE AMERICANA. THE FOOD IS ALWAYS GREAT, AND, THE STAFF ALWAYS FRIENDLY. THE AMBIENCE ALONE IS WORTH THE VERY REASONABLE PRICES. THE TOURIST QUOTIENT DECLINES AFTER SUMMER AND A MORE DC FEEL PREVAILS.
