Sure, this chic, upper Georgetown favorite draws the lunch crowd. But for breakfast, nothing beats those famous, heavenly croissants. On a warm day, you can enjoy them and other breakfast pastries in the back garden over a latte. As their name suggests, sweets are another main event here. When you open the door, rows and rows of delicate French-style tarts, cakes, and chocolates grab your attention. If non-traditional sweets are more your thing, sorbets in flavors like kiwi and fig, macaroons and sugarcoated almonds in Easter Egg colors might just do the trick. If you don't want to skip straight to dessert, there are lovely salads and panini to choose from. The "Audrey" is laden with prosciutto, mozzarella, and tapenade; the "International" features turkey, onion confit, chevre, and roasted tomato. And for the 'young or young at heart,' a Nutella panini marries the sweet and the savory. Service can be European-style too (read: leisurely) so settle into a table by the back espresso bar, and linger the way the French do.

The Closest Thing to Paris
By JOYTIFNIK on 08/22/2008
I really, really enjoy eating Patisserie Poupon's delicacies! We had a housewarming party a few months ago and everyone loved the foods - we had the mini sandwiches, quiches, pastries, and cheese twists and not one thing did we dislike. We have been back a couple of times since then and would go more often if it was more conveniently located. Nevertheless, even when we can't make it, we are always raving about it to someone and sending them there! Thanks Patisserie Poupon -- you are a little taste of heaven!

The most wonderful cakes EVER
By RuthiP224 on 06/27/2008
Ever had the strawberry cake? It is to die for. I received one as a birthday gift last year. Have sampled other wonderful cakes from the Poupon and have yet to find one I didn't like and I am a picky cake eater. My ENTIRE family was ready to go to DC to try everything this wonderful eatery has to offer. Thank you Betse for the best cake I have ever eaten in my life!!!!!!!

The best chocolate.........everything!
By Betse 2 on 06/14/2008
Great place to stop and grab a bite for breakfast or lunch and then take home a delicious chocolate something for dessert! The delectable french pasteries cannot be found anywhere else in DC. So friendly and the chicken salad is to die for! In fact, it's so hard to choose, everything is 'the best'!
