As the sun dips below the spires of Georgetown University, Sequoia and its stunning views of the Potomac come to sparkling life. Featuring an extensive contemporary American menu and a large variety of specialty drinks, Sequoia plays host to Washington?s most notable citizens. During the warmer seasons the restaurant?s expansive patio dining and riverfront bar become the place to be.

great views, otherwise average

Sequoia survives because its views are beautiful. The food is OK, as is the service--nothing special for either. The restaurant is pricy and generally not worth the price, unless you just want excellent scenery to chew up along with your meal.

Will NEVER Return
By msms999 on 04/01/2007
The bartenders were rude, the beer barely cool, the reservations system inadequate, the menu items scarce (at 8PM on a Friday night) and the outdoor heaters only partially working. That was the best of the worst. The server was inattentive never asking whether we wanted more drinks or dessert, completely forgetting to bring our water and ketchup, and rather surley when finally serving the food. The only thing Sequoia has going for it is the view....but fortunately, its not the only game in town.

Contrary to Popular Reviews

I have lived in the DC area for five years and been to Sequoia about a dozen times and have only had one experience of poor service. The food can be a tad over priced for its quality depepnding on what you order, but most entrees will stand up to the hype. The view and overall ambiance is spectacular and I would reccomend trying it out for yourself.
