Scarsella's red-and-white-checked tablecloths, white lace curtains and ice-cream-parlor-style chairs promise a comfortable dining experience, and this old-school Italian restaurant delivers. Food is hearty and relatively inexpensive, and the mellow sound system is nothing more than a radio on the counter tuned to a country-music station -- though tomorrow it might be big-band standards. Be sure to try the wedding soup appetizer, and if you only eat Italian food now and then, be sure to ask your knowledgeable server any menu questions you might have. It will save debates over the real meaning of gravy or red sauce when your entree arrives at your table. Scarsella's is alcohol-free, so there will be no vino to accompany or follow your meal. Desserts like the tried and true Italian favorite tiramisu are available, homemade and delicious, but for some reason don't appear on the menu, so - - again -- ask your server for assistance.
